28 Great Events Announced
Capitol Theatre Tamworth has announced a stellar line-up of shows for 2020 with 28 events, made up from local and national touring productions, on offer.
An enthusiastic full house of inquisitive subscribers, members, partners and friends of the Capitol were at Wednesday night’s launch to hear all about Season 2020.
Season 2020 includes highlights such as Sydney Symphony Orchestra lead by Conductor Umberto Clerici at Tamworth Town Hall, Philip Quast with Anne-Maree McDonald at the piano, Hayes Theatre’s H.M.S. Pinafore, The Sapphires, Bell Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, Opera Australia’s production of Bizet’s Carmen, the musical favourite MAMMA MIA! and 2340 Big Band will rock us again with Rock The Classics at the Capitol Theatre.
Manager of Entertainment Venues, Peter Ross, said, “The coming Season represents a real opportunity to engage with live entertainment – be it a play, music, dance or a musical. It’s a season that encourages those to escape the stress of every day life for a moment with friends or family and laugh, cry and be transported and to experience a great night in the theatre with all the elation that live entertainment can deliver.
Subscriptions and Memberships are now available, giving discounts and access to tickets prior to the general public. These make an excellent Christmas gift with the added bonus of having the opportunity to go into the draw to win a trip for two to Melbourne in November 2020 – something special Capitol Theatre is proud to offer its Season subscribers and members.
Season 2020 commences on Saturday 22 February when Tamworth’s own, Philip Quast returns with an evening of songs and conversation. Ross said, “I’m thrilled that Philip will be our first event in the Season. He has had an amazing international career and I’m sure this engaging night in the theatre will be one not to miss.”
The curated program in Season 2020 supports and showcases Tamworth’s local performing arts companies and the best of national touring productions as well as offers the community an opportunity to enrich their lives.
Ross went on to say, “We are thrilled to offer a season that both supports the wonderful work of Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music, Tamworth Dramatic Society, Tamworth Musical Society, Tamworth City Dance Academy, the 2340 Big Band, Kristi Cini & Morgan Holt, and the Tamworth RSL Brass Band as well as bringing a range of respected artists and companies including, Philip Quast, Hayes Theatre Company, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia, Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, CDP Kids, Monkey Baa Theatre Company and Bell Shakespeare.”
Subscribe or become a member early as Philip Quast and Mamma Mia! go on sale to the general public from Monday 9 December. At the launch on Wednesday night it was also announced that Gabriela McDonald will lead a stellar cast for Mamma Mia! in May 2020. Joining her in the leading roles will be Natacha Curnow, Paula Parris, Chloe Hall, Ben Simpson, Adam Petronaitis, Aaron Jones and Luke Stevenson.
