THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare

11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19 & 20 Mar - Capitol Theatre

Presented By Tamworth Dramatic Society

A postcolonial romance

From the team that brought you A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2014, comes The Tempest by William Shakespeare.

Years ago, Prospero and his daughter, Miranda, were exiled to a magical paradise in the New World. Bent on revenge, Prospero conjures a storm to shipwreck his brother and the other men who banished him. What follows is a calamity of love, drama, and intrigue – set to some of Shakespeare’s most compelling verse.

"Hell is empty and all the devils are here."  William Shakespeare

The Tempest is a clash of the Old World and the New: an examination of what it is to be a refugee in an otherwise perfect world; and a poignant reminder of the responsibilities of power.
